Renting cheaper than buying in some Perth areas: research

The Reserve Bank of Australia last week said households may be better off renting a house, rather than buying, if price growth slows down. Vale Professor Paul Miller

Our friend and colleague Paul Miller passed away on Wednesday 27 November . Paul was an important part of CRAE, providing research leadership and inspiration to us all. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Tram Le and the rest of Paul's family. Donations in memory of Paul may be given to the Make a Wish Foundation, which Paul supported for many years.

A Mature Approach: Cite Magazine

Over the last 20 to 30 years, the Australian Government has looked to attract more women into the workforce through family-friendly policies, better childcare availability and anti-discriminatory legislation. But older women are still not well represented, the population is ageing, and a labour shortage is looming. Associate Professor Siobhan Austen, Director of the Centre for Research in Applied Economics within the Curtin Business School, is addressing this knowledge gap through a range of research projects investigating women in the workforce.
