Transforming Learning at Curtin

Technology-enriched learning

Technology touches almost every part of our lives - our communities, our homes and our workplaces. It is integral to the way society operates and is becoming increasingly important as a tool for education and Learning for Tomorrow.

Technology supports active engagement, participation in groups, interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts. It provides access to a myriad of online resources that allow us to reach different types of learners and helps to assess student understanding.

Similarly it provides students with the opportunity to express understanding through images, sound and text. By effectively integrating technology into education, the role of teacher naturally evolves to one of advisor, mentor, content expert, and coach.

At Curtin, our courses are being redesigned and by the beginning of the 2016 academic year, all our students will experience learning in an environment enriched by technology. iPads, tablets, laptops and other mobile devices will allow students to download class notes, work alone or with others, and access online resources, regardless of whether they are inside or outside the classroom.
