Professor Reena Tiwari

Faculty of Humanities

Professor Reena Tiwari received the National Awards for Teaching Excellence in 2013 and National Carrick Award for teaching Innovation in 2006. Reena is passionate about democratic architecture and city building, and her teaching philosophy embodies a service learning model, in that students learn from communities, organisations and industry professionals by working closely with and for them on action projects. Reena has been preparing students for global problem solving and competency, while cultivating international and intercultural perspectives through building course units that go beyond national boundaries, thus students are challenged to extend their knowledge by understanding what is occurring in culturally diverse contexts, reflecting on new perspectives and information, and reconstructing what they know. Reena has led and inspired a model of teaching and research which has established community engagement and philanthropy.

Reena has been Visiting Professor at University of California, Berkeley, and has been a regular guest professor in the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Masters Programme run by the European Commission. As a member of the Curtin Academy Reena will be involved in activities related to strategic planning and leadership, will provide advice for awards and grants and will participate in special projects.
