Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching

The Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching (EIT) are awarded annually and aim to provide recognition and reward for outstanding performances, by both individuals and teams, in teaching and in enhancing student learning. The Award programs available for nomination are:

In 2018 there are seven award categories with up to nine awards granted at the discretion of the Curtin EIT Awards Committee. Each award winner will receive a certificate and a grant of $3000. Refer to the Nomination Information for full details.

This award category recognises the diverse contributions that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning at Curtin. In 2018 there are up to seven awards granted at the discretion of the Curtin EIT Awards Committee. Each award winner will receive a certificate and a grant of $2000. In 2018, the Curtin EIT Awards Committee will grant up to three awards to university associates who teach Curtin students (that is, at Curtin’s on-shore and off-shore locations). Each award recipient will receive a certificate and grant of $AUD2000. Refer to the Nomination Information for details.

Curtin Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning:

  • Miss Brooke Sanderson, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty Office
    For leadership of fieldwork education in the Health Sciences, fostering innovation and enhancing the quality of students' fieldwork learning experiences. 
  • Dr Helen Flavell, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty Office of Learning and Teaching
    For sustained and outstanding contribution to student learning through the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT) and the development of academics as scholarly teachers.

Curtin Awards for Teaching Excellence:

  • Mrs Claire MorrisbySchool of Occupational Therapy and Social Work, Faculty of Health Sciences
    Category: Biological Sciences, Health and Related Studies.

 Curtin Awards for Programs that Enhance Student Learning:

  • Dr Aneeshta Gunness (Curtin Bentley) and Dr Shamsul Abdullah (Curtin Malaysia), School of Marketing, Curtin Business School
    Program: Transforming Learning in a Distributed Learning Context.

Curtin Awards for Teaching Excellence for University Associates:

  • Dr Shafiiq Gopee (lead), Mrs Odylle Charoux, Dr Karlo Jouan, Ms Tasneem Mustun, Ms Gounshali Vaghjee, Mr Jirad Jhuboo and Mr Zaid Timol, Charles Telfair Institute (Mauritius)
    For: Innovative Co-Teaching Team.
